Façade restoration project completed in the Marais protected sector, Paris
August 2024

The Atelier recently took delivery of a façade‑restoration project on an emblematic building in the Marais. This building is a perfect example of the 17th‑century shop‑house, with the regulatory height of 48 pieds (about 15 m). It also bears witness to the successive transformations of the 18th and 19th centuries, such as the replacement of tiled roofs with zinc or the loss of the original masonry window‑sills.
The building is particularly remarkable for its interior arrangements, having preserved a staircase, floorboards and a roof structure dating from the 17th century.
In this historically rich context, our approach was to retain the traces of the building’s successive transformations, testimony to its evolution. The façades were reinstated in a fresh plaster tone, restoring the whole’s coherence and brightness while respecting its historical identity.
