Editorial policy
1. Our approach
The Atelier d'Architecture Antoine de Gironde publishes articles and guides on architecture, the restoration of historic buildings and the renovation of old and existing buildings, in particular in its “Expertise” section.
We believe that useful information is more than a compilation of theoretical data. It must be grounded in professional practice, in experience on site and in a rigorous check of the applicable rules.
2. Expertise drawn from the field
Our topics arise from the questions we encounter every day in our projects, for example:
- façade restoration;
- the restoration of châteaux and historic buildings;
- works in co-owned buildings;
- projects in conservation areas (PSMV);
- extensions and additional storeys.
These situations allow us to go beyond theory: points requiring vigilance, mistakes to avoid, implementation constraints, compatibility of materials with historic fabric, coordination of the parties involved.
Examples drawn from real projects are presented with due respect for the confidentiality of our clients and the people concerned.
3. Sources and verification
Depending on the subject, our content draws in particular on:
- legislative and regulatory texts;
- local urban development plans, conservation plans (PSMV) and other planning documents;
- standards, DTUs (French building codes) and accepted good practice;
- recognised institutional and professional publications;
- manufacturers' technical documentation, where relevant.
Planning, accessibility, safety, energy performance and construction techniques call for particular care: the rules vary according to the location, the building, its use and the works envisaged. We take care to distinguish clearly between regulatory obligations, professional recommendations and practical advice.
4. Images and artificial intelligence
Photographs: no photograph published on this site is generated by artificial intelligence. Photographs of our projects are real shots; some may be retouched with digital tools (cropping, lighting, colours, perspective correction).
Plans and drawings: plans, sketches and drawings are produced or finalised using computer-aided drawing and design tools.
Artificial intelligence tools may be used as a writing aid: structuring texts, proofreading, improving readability.
They replace neither professional experience, nor technical analysis, nor the verification of sources. A technical or regulatory statement is never considered reliable simply because a tool produced or rephrased it: it is checked by a competent person before publication.
5. Review by an architect
Antoine de Gironde, architect registered with the French Order of Architects under no. 084305 and founder of the Atelier d'Architecture Antoine de Gironde in Versailles, gives final approval to technical and regulatory content within his field of practice.
This review covers in particular the accuracy of regulatory references, the consistency of construction methods, implementation conditions and the limits within which the advice given applies.
It is an essential step in our approach, but it does not guarantee that no error remains, nor does it replace a study specific to each project.
6. Authors
Articles in the “Expertise” section state their author and, where applicable, the architect who reviewed and approved them. Antoine de Gironde's background is presented on the Studio page.
7. Updates and corrections
Rules and practices evolve. We update our content when a regulatory change, a technical clarification or an error warrants it.
A displayed update date corresponds to an actual change in the content. It does not mean that every element of the article has been fully re-checked.
8. Scope of the information
Our content is intended to inform and explain. It does not constitute individual professional advice, a feasibility study or a prescription applicable to every project.
Before making any decision or committing to any works, readers should check the rules that apply to their own project and, where necessary, consult a qualified professional.
9. Contact us
To report an error, ask for clarification or tell us about a regulatory change: contact@antoinedegironde.com. Every report is reviewed and may lead us to correct or complete the content concerned.
