Parisian storefront in the Marais

The Atelier has recently taken delivery of a façade‑restoration project on an iconic building in the Marais. This building is a prime example of the 17th‑century shop‑house type, with the regulatory height of 48 pieds (about 15 m). It also bears witness to successive 18th‑ and 19th‑century alterations, such as the replacement of tiled roofs with zinc and the loss of the original masonry window‑sills.

The building is particularly remarkable for its interior arrangements, having preserved a staircase, floorboards and a roof structure dating from the 17th century.

Within this historically rich context, our approach was to preserve the traces of the building’s successive transformations as evidence of its evolution. The façades were reinstated in a fresh plaster tone, restoring coherence and luminosity to the whole while respecting its historic identity.
