To make full use of the spaces in this family house in Bougival, the Atelier proposed a cost‑effective project to incorporate the basement into the home and create a home cinema, a wine cellar and a guest bedroom with shower.

The entire basement was thermally insulated and new windows were opened to bring natural light into the space. A raw‑concrete staircase was installed to link the basement with the rest of the house and to harmonize with the existing materials.

Exposed raw‑concrete beams were highlighted by white‑painted hollow‑core infill, creating a contrast of planes and a sense of depth while meeting the project’s budgetary constraints.
