When acquired, this apartment — located in a 1950s building in the Prés district within the protected sector of Versailles — was in a very deteriorated condition. Overly partitioned, it did not allow its qualities to be appreciated: beautiful natural light, an organization oriented toward the gardens of the interior courtyard, and period elements that deserved to be preserved.

The renovation was comprehensive: general refurbishment, improved thermal insulation, replacement of the windows, and a transformation of the layout to increase the number of bedrooms from two to three within 69 m².

The central gesture of the project is a custom-designed partition‑furniture piece that unfolds from the entrance to the kitchen. Its geometry follows the angle of the balcony, extending what was already there. It replaces the former partitions, integrates storage, the kitchen and the laundry area, while creating the necessary degrees of privacy for family life between the different spaces.

The kitchen, relocated to a former bedroom and opened onto the living room, now gathers the large windows and floods the apartment with south‑facing light. The main bedroom occupies the former dining room, overlooking the garden.

Original mosaic parquet floors, door handles, and 1950s radiators were preserved and highlighted, maintaining the apartment’s spirit at the heart of a completely reimagined architecture.
